Cut Outs
2018 - 2019
While printing shadows for the “Blueprints,” I started creating collages. The theme of the work shifted from the individual represented in the object to the technique itself. Printing, cutting and rearranging shapes on a scanner plate became the manner by which I confer new meaning to shadows and left-over papers. In “Recortes” or “Cut-Outs,” a fish is now living in a Brita filter or jumping-off a tulip vase. The back of a partial cut-out of an orchid vase is finally noteworthy. Left-over scraps of a projected blue light represent a blue sky, and darkroom test prints are meticulously arranged.
